Hello Gator Families,

Summer is upon us!  Please read carefully the dates and information below, as well as the attached registration documents.  THERE ARE IMPORTANT CHANGES!

 

Sunday, April 3, 2011: Registration, 12-2 pm @ FHCC (this is the ONLY time for swim suit fittings and a special discount - see attachment under Team Swim Suits)

 

May 9: Pre-season practice begins (one group at 4:30, next group at 5:30, according to your swimmer's availability)

 

May 12: NO PRACTICE

 

May 13: ONE practice at 4:30, followed by Meet the Coaches Dinner (burger and hot dogs provided by FHCC - small fee added to registration fees).

 

May 31: Regular Season Practice begins

 

June 1: Pre-Team Season begins (pre-team has no pre-season practices)

 

June 2: Team Meeting, 6-7 pm (parents and swimmers @ 6, parents @ 6:30)

             First Stroke and Turn Session, 6:30-7:30 (All swimmers strongly encouraged to attend, but not required. No pre-team.)

 

June 20: Team Free Swim, 4-7 pm, bring a picnic dinner for your family (club closed, no access inside)

 

July 1: 4th of July Play Day (during practice)

 

July 4: NO PRACTICE

 

July 18: Spirit Night, 4-7 pm (Pizza!)

 

July 21: District Meet

 

July 23: Sundance Finals

 

July 26: End of the Season Banquet

 

Fees, practice schedule, stroke and turn schedule, suit information, equipment information, etc. is ALL contained in the attachment.  Please note the addition of a Swimmer/Parent Code of Conduct, as well as Pre-Team information.  Additionally, note information about our new Head Coach, Daniel Paredes, as well as Coach Britta Beasley and Coach Taylor Busby.  (Additional assistant coaches have yet to be named.)

 

The registration document will be up on the website soon.  Go ahead and check out www.fhccgators.com.  David Baur, team webmaster, has already begun to add some current updates.

 

Pre-Team Parents: Pre-Team swimmers will swim at the mid-point of our home meets.  Coaches will be in the water (as needed), swimmers will start to the buzzer, swim the length of the pool (however they can get across!), get out, grab a stick, and get a ribbon.  (This is the only information about pre-team not included in the attachment.)

 

We have some new volunteer positions available this year, which include Pre-Team Mom, Burrito Friday Cart Attendant (I know you'll jump at that chance...and, yes, breakfast burritos only available on Fridays this year), and Fundraising Activities.  A complete list of volunteer opportunities will be available for sign-up at registration on April 3. 

 

The first Sundance meeting is at the end of March.  At that time, the league will begin building the summer meet schedule.  It will take at least a couple of meetings, but I'll let you know the meet schedule as soon as I get it.

 

Phew!  I think that's it.  I've been in swim team mode since October, so I'm excited to finally get things underway.  Looking forward to seeing each of you at registration!
