Week of June 10th

Hi Everyone,
We had a great meet on Saturday - quick!  They won't all be fast like that, so enjoy.  Congratulations to our PRE-TEAMERS for successful completion of their first official 25 yards!  You guys were fabulous.  Thanks to Krissy Baca, Brett Baca, and Tim Billstrand for helping them along in the water.  And as always, great volunteers made everything run smoothly.  Did you get a look at our new event board?  It's awesome.  Thanks to Tim Hightower at Streamline Swimming for recreating it for us - at no cost!

Before I get into what's coming up, there are a couple of important items that need announcing.  First and foremost, the club has requested that we MOVE UP the time of this Saturday's meet to prevent extended pool closure to the members.  Coach Hannah was trying to give the Socorro team a little extra time for travel, but alas, they will have to get up and get moving!  New start time is 8:00 a.m., warm-up time is 7:30, arrival is between 7:00-7:10.  Apologies for the last-minute change.

Next, a word about cancelling practice...

Practice will not be cancelled.  If it is windy, practice will not be cancelled.  If the air temperature is cold, practice will not be cancelled.  If the water temperature is cold, practice will not be cancelled.  If it is only raining, practice will not be cancelled.  If a giant flock of seagulls lights on the Four Hills pool, practice will not be cancelled.  You get the idea.  The ONLY time practice will be cancelled is when thunder and lightning is present.  Our season is short and intense - we must make good use of every day.  Even if the above factors or other circumstances beyond our control (such as issues with pool chemicals) prevent swimmers from entering the water (as decided by the coaches), practice continues, and our excellent coaching staff will lead the swimmers in an appropriate dry land workout.  Practices are not mandatory.  It is always your prerogative to keep your swimmer home should you have concerns about the conditions.

Friday, June 14
7:30 a.m. - PANCAKE BREAKFAST/TEAM PICTURES - NO PRACTICE

There will be a sign-up sheet at the pool for the breakfast which will be turned in after practice on Thursday, June 13.  The breakfast is $5 per person, as long as we monitor bacon consumption :)  So bring your families, and eat your bacon before you come.

The photo forms from Full Contact Photography were emailed to you last week, and there are hard copies of order forms at the pool. Wear your team suit, and comb your hair!

There will be an opportunity to make up individual pictures if you are unable to come Friday.  As soon as that date is determined, I will let you know.

Saturday, June 15 - SOCORRO @ FHCC
7:00 - 7:10 - Arrival time
7:30 - Warm-up time
8:00 - Meet begins
Again, a full list of volunteers is needed.  Either sign up at the pool to help out, or reply to this email.  Socorro has a larger team than ACC, so expect a busier meet environment.  Bring your own food, drinks, shade, and chairs.

Looking forward to another great week.  It's good to be a Gator!
